Each of our therapists determines their own rates. We know how important an exact number can be, so please call and discuss it with us.
We understand that the cost of therapy can sometimes scare people away from a truly life-changing investment. We also understand the difficulty of investing in your own well-being, especially when others may be relying on you financially. We all have varied combinations of the following options to consider to help make therapy affordable:
- Sliding-scale fee (need based)
- Shorter sessions
- Less frequent sessions
- Receipts for services to submit for reimbursement from insurance companies (See below for more information)
As therapists and counselors, we are more than just expensive listeners. We are highly skilled and have spent many years in school, received trainings, and have undergone our own therapy processes to ensure our ability to truly help you solve your problems. We also regularly attend trainings, seminars, and other activities to continue our education in the ever-evolving field of mental health.
Consider this an opportunity in learning to invest in yourself and in those lives who you touch with your own. You will get out of therapy what you invest into it.

Currently, we do not accept in-network insurance for services at this time. Some of us may be accepting a few policies soon, so please check back with us.
Options for clients who would like to use their insurance:
If you choose to use your out-of-network insurance benefits, we can provide receipts for attended sessions that your insurance may directly reimburse you for fully or partially. Reimbursement rates vary based upon insurance plans, deductible amounts, and out-of-network policies. Questions to ask your insurance company include:
- Do my insurance benefits include mental health services (provided by a licensed mental health counselor or a licensed marriage and family therapist)?
- What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
- Is there a limit to the number of sessions per week or per year my plan covers?
- What is my deductible?
- Do I need to get approval from my primary care physician before beginning therapy?
How NOT Using Insurance Could Benefit You
In paying for services out-of-pocket as opposed to utilizing insurance there are some benefits. Benefits include:
Quality of Work –– Insurance companies impose limits on the frequency of sessions and time allowed in therapy. For healing that lasts and is not simply a band-aid over a gaping wound, long-term work is often needed. Because insurance companies come from a medically-based perspective of diagnosing acute symptoms and focus solely on symptom relief, you as the client may lose insurance benefits before significant change has occurred on the inside. Problems with relationships and long-standing attachment wounds are not always easily healed in 12-26 sessions.
Therapist-Directed Clinical Work –– Your therapist will know you better and on a more personal level than the insurance company. It is important that you and the therapist are in control of the direction of the clinical work. Insurance companies often prescribe treatment protocols that are not necessarily in the best interest of the client long-term and will restrict service coverage if treatment steps outside of those bounds.
No Mental Health Diagnosis Necessary –– In order to utilize insurance, you will need a mental health diagnosis which then becomes part of your mental health record. While this record is private and protected (HIPAA), there are rare cases where your diagnosis may be disclosed such as when seeking certain jobs or promotions (e.g. military, police officers), applying for life insurance, or if your records are subpoenaed by a judge. Some people experience diagnoses as pathologizing, particularly if they already feel ashamed for not feeling well or grappling with a particular issue. Moreover, if you are seeking counseling services for personal growth and do not meet criteria for a diagnosis, a mental health disorder would not accurately describe you and your circumstances.
Relationship Counseling –– Relationship counseling is a complex process that dissects complicated dynamics amongst many people, not just an individual. Most insurance companies do not reimburse for couples therapy sessions. Therefore, the therapist would have to assign a diagnosis to one partner and have to adhere to the treatment protocol dictated by insurance, which may result in therapy feeling imbalanced, and may provide an incomplete or skewed picture of the true issues at hand.
We ask that you please notify us at least 24 hours in advance if you can’t attend your scheduled appointment. If you miss your appointment and fail to notify us, we will bill you for 50% of the established fee of your session.
